Somatic Bodywork Sessions

Receive individualized, hands-on, one-to-one support through experiential somatic bodywork.

You live in your own, unique body, with your own individualized habits and patterns. Your own histories, injuries, mindset, stressors, etc. All of this impacts how you move, how you breathe, where you hold tension, how you feel - how you experience life.

Understanding nervous system responses is key to understanding yourself better.

Neuromuscular re-education (brain work), breath awareness, understanding how your body is built to move and experiential knowledge of interoception (ability to notice how one feels internally, "how am I") also help us navigate our lives from a place of ease-fulness.

These are the foundations needed to create change.

But first, you need to build awareness. How is your unique nervous system responding: To immediate and long-term experiences? To Daily use patterns? To chronic pain? To transitional times in life? To growing older? To coping with life’s ups and downs? To injury or pain?

This is trauma-informed care and education that is effective, practical and powerful.

You’ll wear comfortable clothing and sessions can be done on a massage table or the floor, based on your preference.

Choosing to work individually helps you understand that:

  • How you feel matters

  • How you experience life matters

  • YOU matter

  • Unraveling years of habits and patterns require attention

  • It is possible to do this

  • You can take what we do in session with you into daily life

  • You hold an inner ability and wisdom to help yourself

  • learning about your body, breath and nervous system is key

Prenatal and Postpartum Somatic Bodywork Sessions

Balancing the body during pregnancy helps to release tighter, stiffer areas and create more space. For example, if your right hip is tight, it can impact the abdominal area, pelvic floor, legs, shoulders and back. This tension can also impact the positioning of your uterus and baby inside. When the body is in greater balance, the process of birth can be more efficient and the strategies for coping with labor will be more effective. It’s also important to understand your own nervous systems responses to what the experience of labor and birth may be.

Knowing how to relax and calm ones nervous system is crucial during labor and usually hard to do without practice. During these hands-on sessions, (wearing comfortable clothing, on a massage table or the floor, using pregnancy pillows that allow for belly down lying if desired), you will receive attention and care focused solely on you and preparing for your birth and baby.

Prenatal Somatic Sessions are excellent to receive once a month during your pregnancy. Near the end of pregnancy, sessions can be helpful for gaining more comfort, before an induction, before an ECV and to help with any anxiety that may be present about your upcoming birth.

Postnatal Somatic Sessions have a focus on processing your birth experience while also tending to your healing body and adjusting to caring for your baby. You can come with your baby or on your own. This is a gentle, nurturing session.

Holding Space Consultations for Impactful Life Transitions, Grief, and Loss are different from the somatic sessions focused on grief and loss mentioned above. While some somatic awareness is woven into Holding Space Consultations, these witnessing times have their own scope of practice and are distinctly different from licensed mental health therapy. The sessions are 50 minutes long, either via zoom or in-person.

Calling on the work of Amy Wright-Glenn of the Birth, Breath and Death Institute, these sessions offer compassionate, mindful presence and a witness holding space as you share what you feel moved to share. Mindful breathing, deep listening, reflective sharing, tuning into bodily sensation, pauses, and moments of meditation are brought into the sessions.

We are seated and may sometimes stand.

Sessions are 50 minutes long
